Hanoi (VNA) – At least three people were killed in the6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the south of the Philippines on October 16.
The earthquake knocked out power and communications and opened cracks inbuildings in central Mindanao, said national disaster agency spokesman MarkTimbal.
Two people were killed and 18 injured in a landslide in Magsaysay town in Davaodel Sur province, and a seven-year-old girl was killed when a wall in her housecollapsed.
According to the disaster agency, 27 people were injured and 15 buildingsdamaged, including shopping malls, schools and town halls.
The 6.4-magnitude quake hit Mindanao in the south of the Philippines on October16. There were no immediate reports of casualties from the earthquake.
The United States Geological Survey(USGS) said the quake struck 69km north-northwest of General Santos, Mindanao.
