Seoul (VNA) – The Vietnamese Association in the Republic of Korea (RoK)convened a congress in Seoul on April 13 to review its performance during the2017-2019 tenure and set forth operation orientations for the new term.
NguyenNgoc Cam, the association’s president, reported that the association organisedvarious activities over the past time, attracting the participation of crowdsof Vietnamese in the country.
Shetook the examples of cultural and sport events, along with Vietnamese languageclasses for children of Vietnamese-Korean families and support to victims ofnatural disasters in the homeland.
VietnameseDeputy Ambassador to the RoK Tran Truong Thuy highly valued achievements theassociation has recorded over the past tenure, saying it has contributed to connectingVietnamese in the RoK, promoting the image of Vietnamese in the host country,and consolidating relations between the two countries.
Onthis occasion, the association was presented with a certificate of merit inrecognition of its contributions to the community and the homeland.
Thecongress elected a 25-member executive board of the association for the2019-2021 period. Cam was re-elected as president of the association in the newterm.
Shetold the Vietnam News Agency that the association will open more Vietnameselanguage classes and continue to organise sport and cultural activities forVietnamese in the RoK in 2019, while assisting those who are in difficultcircumstances. -VNA
