Association connects Vietnamese students in UK

The Vietnamese Students Association in the UK (SVUK) organised an annual congress on November 1 with the aim of consolidating the organisation to be able to effectively represent more than 8,000 Vietnamese students in the UK.
The Vietnamese Students Association in the UK (SVUK) organised an annualcongress on November 1 with the aim of consolidating the organisationto be able to effectively represent more than 8,000 Vietnamese studentsin the UK.

Addressing the event, VietnameseAmbassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao spoke highly of the efforts of theSVUK’s executive committee and said he hopes they will connectVietnamese students by organising more practical activities.

He suggested the association run activities that support students intheir study and organise cultural exchanges to introduce Vietnam toBritish friends.

The congress heard reports on theSVUK’s activities in the 2013-2014 academic year, such as the photographcontest SVUK InFocus, the fundraising campaigns Any Penny Counts formeasles-infected children in Vietnam and Connecting VietYouth 2014,and a football competition.

At the congress, Mai Lan Van from City University London was elected as the new SVUK President.

Last October, the SVUK was officially recognised as a member of the Vietnamese Student Association.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
