They gathered in Vientiane, Laos onSeptember 18 for the sixth ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on TransnationalCrime Plus Three (AMMTC+3).
The ministers said thecooperation targets such crime as human trafficking, weapons smuggling,piracy, illegal immigration, economic crime, drugs-related crime, andhi-tech crime, and agreed to increase information exchange and trainingfor better outcomes.
At the event, Minister Quangspoke of Vietnam’s positive cooperation with law enforcement bodies ofChina, Japan and the RoK to implement the commitment between ASEAN andthe partners on combating transnational crime.
Healso recognised and spoke highly of the three countries’ effectivecooperation with and assistance to ASEAN and Vietnam in particular, inthe ASEAN+3 cooperation programme on transnational crime prevention andresponse to newly emerging non-traditional challenges in the 2007-2017period.
The Vietnamese Minister said he hopes that thecommitments agreed at this meeting will be implemented effectively byall sides, creating a breakthrough in the transnational crime fight.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Quang had talks withofficials from the Ministry of Security of Laos and meetings with theheads of delegations from Singapore, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Japan,and Myanmar.-VNA
