Speaking at the annual conferencethat will end on July 10, Standing Deputy Minister of Information andCommunications Le Nam Thang said that the event is a chance for regionaltelecoms administrators to be informed of new technologicalachievements, services, equipment and application.
High on the conference agenda are discussions, aiming to seekmeasures to promote cooperation among ASEAN countries in several majorfields, including the sharing of telecom infrastructure, roaming andtelevision digitalisation in the region.
Inaddition, the conference will review what the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN) has done in the framework of the Asia PacificEconomic Cooperation (APEC) Working Group on Telecommunications andInformation (TEL), the Asian Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and theInternational Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The conference also includes sessions with the participation ofrepresentatives from ASEAN’s important partners, namely China, Japanand the European Union (EU).
Vietnam,together with other ASEAN countries, has over the past years madeefforts to build an information society, in which all people can accessto telecom conveniences and acquire the world’s knowledge./.
