Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Le Minh Hung chaired the 16th ASEAN Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (ACGM) on October 2, held in the form ofa teleconference.

Delegates mulledover issues such as digital transformation in financial-banking services incountries and traditional financial-banking organisations amid Industry 4.0,and the Creative Media and Digital Culture Programme (CMDC).

The Bank forInternational Settlements (BIS) gave recommendations on ensuring financialstability, protecting clients, and maintaining trust and cyber security duringthe design and use of the CMDC.

Governors sharedthe view that digital transformation in the regional banking sector has becomean inevitable trend, and many ASEAN member countries have devised digitaltransformation strategies in the finance-banking sector.

In addition to discussing priorities andinitiatives within ASEAN financial-banking cooperation, they also approvedinitiatives on the sustainable banking agenda and agreed to attach a specificrelease on this to the joint statement adopted at the sixth ASEAN FinanceMinisters’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting.

Governorsconcurred to begin the building of a code of conduct for sustainable banks inASEAN as initiated by the SBV as Chair of ACGM 2020./.

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi
