Focus willbe placed on increasing cooperation among ASEAN countries as well asbetween policy makers and safety and health service providers.
National and regional conferences on labour safety and hygiene will also be held.
The workshop, which concluded in Thai Nguyen province on March 13, isto help ASEAN countries share information and exchange experiences inorder to seek solutions to mitigate losses caused by accidents at work.
Representatives from ASEAN countries as well as those from SMEs ofVietnam’s Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien-Hue and Dong Naiprovinces attended the workshop, which was part of a multilateralcooperative programme between Japan , the International LabourOrganisation (ILO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
According to statistics, 6,000 labour accidents happened in Vietnam in2009, mainly due to violations of labour hygiene and safetyregulations, killing 550 people and injuring 1,200 others./.
