Hanoi (VNA) - The ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) blueprint 2009-2015 has been fully carried out, said Malaysian secretary-general of the Foreign Ministry Othman Hashim.
He told media in Kula Lumpur on November 19 that ASEAN member states are looking forward to implementing the action guidelines under the blueprint.
The announcement came after the conclusion of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Preparatory Meeting of the 27th ASEAN Summit.
The Malaysian official said that the meeting also discussed the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) while consulting on a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
The APSC blueprint envisages ASEAN to be a rule-based Community of shared values and norms, a cohesive, peaceful, stable and resilient region with shared responsibility for comprehensive security, as well as a dynamic and outward-looking region in an increasingly integrated and interdependent world.
It provides a roadmap and timetable to establish the APSC by 2015 while leaving room for flexibility to continue programmes beyond 2015 to retain its significance and have an enduring quality.
The blueprint was adopted by the ASEN leaders at the 14th ASEAN Summit in March 2009 in Cha-am/Hua Hin, Thailand.-VNA
