ASEAN debuts sustainable development research centre in Thailand

Bangkok (VNA) - The ASEAN Centre for Sustainable DevelopmentStudies and Dialogue (ACSDSD) will be launched at the opening ceremony of the35th ASEAN Summit held in Thailand on November 3.
The Centre is one of the concrete deliverables of Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanshipthis year and is a part of Thailand’s investment for the sustainable future ofASEAN.
The ACSDSD will play an important role in promoting sustainable developmentcooperation in the region through conducting studies and research, buildingcapacity of ASEAN member states, and promoting dialogue and concrete cooperationwithin ASEAN and with ASEAN’s external partners.
It is located at the College of Management of Mahidol University, which alsohosts the Centre for Research on Sustainable Leadership.
A memorandum of understanding on the centre’s establishment was signed onOctober 30 between representatives of the Thai Foreign Ministry and MahidolUniversity.
The 35th ASEAN Summit and related summits will take place in Bangkok andNonthaburi province on November 2-4.
The event will attract over 3,000 delegates, includingleaders and representatives of 23 countries and five internationalorganisations. It will be broadcast to 3 billion people worldwide./.
