At the meeting, theVietnamese leader thanked the Mexican President as well as the Government ofMexico for supporting Vietnam in hosting the APEC Year 2017 and the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang in particular.
He took the occasionto extend deep sympathies to Mexico over heavy losses caused by the earthquake inSeptember. He also thanked the Mexican Government and people for sharingVietnam’s losses caused by recent Typhoon Damrey.
He spoke highly of theVietnam-Mexico partnership’s growth over the past years, especially in economicwith two-way trade reaching 2.3 billion USD in 2016, 10 times higher than thatin 2006.
He also thanked Mexicofor recognising Vietnam’s market economy as well as the invitation by Mexicoand the Pacific Alliance to Vietnam to be an observer of the organisaiton.
For his part,President Enrique Pena Nieto lauded achievements that Vietnamese people havegained over the past years. He affirmed that Mexico always attaches great importanceto developing all-round affiliation with Vietnam.
He also expressed his beliefthat Vietnam will successfully host the APEC Year 2017 as well as the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week in particular, leaving its imprint and makingcontributions for the APEC’s development.
The two leaders agreedon measures to continue fostering and broadening bilateral ties inpolitics-diplomacy, economy-trade-investment, culture, science-technology andothers.
They stressed the needto maintain and enhance effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms, aswell as the completion of legal frameworks through the signing of agreements,and the building of favourable environment for stronger connectivity betweenbusiness communities of the two countries.
Both sides alsopledged to work closely at the United Nations, the APEC, the Trans-PacificPartnership, the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC), andother multilateral cooperation mechanisms.-VNA
