In an interview granted exclusivelyto the Vietnam News Agency on the sidelines of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’Meeting, Videgaray described APEC as an important international forum and underthe chair of Vietnam, it would be an effective meeting with a view to re-boostingtrade promotion programmes for comprehensive development and integration.
He said the meeting featured anumber of topics of Mexico’s concern, such as the development of small andmedium-sized enterprises and their integration into the value chain, tradecoordination, especially in the digital economy.
The minister also underscored sustainablefood production and agricultural development amid climate change as both Mexicoand Vietnam have been heavily affected by natural disasters.
About the prospect ofVietnam-Mexico ties within the APEC cooperation mechanism and bilaterally,Videgaray affirmed that bilateral relations are in the period of the bestdevelopment, adding that the recent meeting between President Tran Dai Quangand Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto achieved positive results.
He expressed wish that Mexicanfirms would invest more in Vietnam and welcome more Vietnamese students to thecountry for study and cultural exchanges.
The two countries could begeographically distant but share similarities that make them closer, hestressed.-VNA
