The Jakarta Post has published an article lauding Vietnam’s position following the country’s hosting of the APEC Year 2017.

– The JakartaPost has published an article lauding Vietnam’s position following thecountry’s hosting of the APEC Year 2017.

The article stressed that the APEC 2017Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang was a success, adding that Vietnam madeefforts to secure the event by deploying 2,800 security officers.

All APEC member economies, includingIndonesia, were in favour of Vietnam’s APEC theme and initiatives on economicintegration, it said.

It noted that the Vietnamese economy isthriving, with exports recording continuous growth. The country has attracted alarge amount of foreign capital thanks to its commitments to free trade, globalisationand economic reform.

The paper said Vietnam is undergoing atransformation from an agricultural country to an export-oriented economy and acountry of industrialisation and modernisation. The nation’s progress inpoverty alleviation has been shown in the reduction of poverty rate from 58.1percent in 1993 to 7 percent in 2015.

The article concluded that Vietnam isemerging as a global investor and a ‘new star’ in Asia.-VNA
