The 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 11 is an important event within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week underway in the central city of Da Nang.

– The 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting on November 11 is an important event within theframework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week underway in the central city of DaNang.

Under the theme “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future,” the meetingwill feature retreats, a ceremony to hand over the APEC Chairmanship to PapuaNew Guinea and an international press conference.

The same day, there will be a programme in Hoi An city, the central province ofQuang Nam, for spouses of the delegation heads to the APEC Economic Leaders’Week, aiming to promote Vietnamese culture to international friends.

The APEC leaders are set to discuss important issues to create new dynamism forsustainable development and regional connectivity, thus fostering a sharedfuture of peace, stability, development and prosperity in Asia-Pacific.

To materialise the target, Vietnam has proposed four priorities, namely promoting sustainable, innovativeand inclusive growth; deepening regional economic integration; strengtheningmicro, small and medium enterprises’ competitiveness and innovation in thedigital age; and enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture inresponse to climate change.

Such priorities aim to meet requirements for growth restoration and regionalconnectivity, contributing to completing the Bogor Goals and realising the UNAgenda on Sustainable Development by 2030.

Established in 1989, APEC comprisesAustralia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Japan,the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru,the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the US, andVietnam.

It represents 39 percent of the worldpopulation, 57 percent of the world GDP and 47 percent of the total trade.-VNA
