Anti-counterfeit Technology Centre opens branch in HCM City

The Anti-counterfeit Technology Centre (ACT) Vietnam officially launched its branch in Ho Chi Minh City on November 18, aiming to prevent counterfeit products and protect the rights of consumers and enterprises in the southern region.

HCM City (VNS/VNA)- The Anti-counterfeit Technology Centre (ACT) Vietnam officially launchedits branch in Ho Chi Minh City on November 18, aimingto prevent counterfeit products and protect the rights ofconsumers and enterprises in the southern region.

The opening of the HCMCity branch also marks an effort by ACT Vietnam to expand and improvetheir operation as well as to fulfill their tasks.

The establishment of ACT-HCM ishighly appreciated as HCM City and the southern provinces play animportant role as it is the economic hub of the country and the commercialgateway connecting Viet Nam and the world. 

As a branch of ACT, ACT-HCMwill carry out and develop programmes to prevent counterfeitproducts. It will also be responsible for supporting enterprisesto fight against counterfeit products and protect consumers’ rights.

“The establishment of ACT-HCMwill help us take advantage of all resources in local areas in thefight against counterfeit in the southern region,” said Pham Van Tho, Directorof ACT-HCM.

ACT-HCM will be responsiblefor providing local enterprises with high-tech solutions such ashigh-tech stamps and QR codes to prevent counterfeit products.

The branch also will studyand provide methods on how to supervise and clarify authentic andcounterfeit products. Services relating to preventing counterfeit and fakeproducts, intellectual rights, and barcodes will also be provided.

Training coursesand conferences about methods preventing counterfeit products willbe organised.

The branch will also co-operatewith relevant sectors to support companies in the fight against counterfeitproducts.

The issue ofcounterfeit and fake products has been an urgent one formany years. It has had a negative impact on people’s life and health,and affected company’s business.

Together with the Government’sefforts to prevent counterfeit products, the VietnamAssociation for Anti-Counterfeiting and TrademarkProtection established ACT Vietnam with the main aim of studyingand developing high-tech solutions and methods to preventcounterfeit and fake products.

ACT Vietnam is thefirst organ in Vietnam to receive operation certificationgranted by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the sector.

Since the establishment, thecentre has strongly contributed to the national effortsto fight counterfeit and fake products. The centrehas designed many solutions like anti-counterfeit stamps,product-origin stamps and mobile chips. The centre’s blockchain solutionsused to fight against counterfeit products have been widely used by manyorganisations and companies./.
