Ambassador works to boost relations between Vietnamese, Czech localities

Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Ho Minh Tuan visited Ústecký region and had a working session with local officials on June 21 in an effort to promote this region’s cooperation with Vietnamese localities.

Prague (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to the CzechRepublic Ho Minh Tuan visited Ústecký region and had a working session withlocal officials on June 21 in an effort to promote this region’s cooperationwith Vietnamese localities.

The diplomat expressed his delight that sincehis previous meeting with local authorities two years ago, the region’sadministration has carried out many practical activities showing theirattention to the Vietnamese community there and the development of relationswith Vietnam.

He noted the official visit to the CzechRepublic by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc last April and anofficial trip to Vietnam by Vice Chairman of the Czech Parliament’s Chamber ofDeputies Vojtěch Filip earlier this month. During these visits, the two sidesexpressed their wish to enhance bilateral trade and investment and agreed toboost ties in education and healthcare, and particularly between the countries’localities.

The year 2020 will be an important landmark asVietnam and the Czech Republic will celebrate the 70th founding anniversary ofdiplomatic ties, Tuan said, asking the administration of Ústecký to join theCzech Government to coordinate with the Vietnamese Embassy to organisecelebrations.

The ambassador also called on the localauthorities to continue seeking and consolidating opportunities to promote cooperationwith Vietnamese localities. In return, Ústecký businesses can also visitVietnam to explore investment and partnership chances.

For his part, Ústecký Governor OldřichBubeníček said his region plans to send a delegation of officials andentrepreneurs to Vietnam’s Kien Giang province in spring next year. 

They will propose practical cooperationprogrammes for both sides, he noted, expressing his hope that the trip willhelp realise the agreements reached during the tour of Ústecký by Kien Giangofficials in 2017.

He added Vietnamese people in the region arevery dynamic and responsible in building up their relations with local authorities.Some of them are successful entrepreneurs, and they have acted as a bridgelinking the administration and people in Ústecký, as well as the two countries.

Ústecký, with ‎Ústí nad Labem as its capitalcity, is located in the northwest of the Czech Republic, about 100km fromPrague. It is the seventh most populous city and also a major industrial hub ofthe country.-VNA
