At arecent meeting, the Deputy PM asked the Ministry of Education andTraining in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, theAssociation for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, and relevant agenciesto build a framework for increasing the online teaching of Vietnamese.
They were asked to encourage authorities fromcountries that house a number of Vietnamese nationals to include theVietnamese language, culture and history in school curricula.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry was ordered to work with relevantagencies to report on teaching the Vietnamese language for expatriatesin neighbouring Laos and Cambodia to the Prime Minister.
The Deputy PM also requested Vietnam’s representative agencies inforeign countries promote and guide the use of two textbooks, “TiengViet vui” (Fun Vietnamese) and “Que Viet” (Vietnamese Homeland).
The overseas Vietnamese community currently consists of roughly 4.5million people across 109 countries and territories, according to DeputyForeign Minister and Chairman of the State Committee on OverseasVietnamese Affairs Vu Hong Nam in a recent interview granted to VietnamNews Agency reporters.-VNA
