Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and theCommittee for Ethnic Minority Affairs will coordinate in a five-year programmeto step up activities in culture, sports, tourism and family planning for mountainousand ethnic minority-inhabited areas.
DeputyMinister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy and Vice Chairman of theCommittee on Ethnic Minority Affairs Nong Quoc Tuan signed an agreement for theimplementation of the joint programme which will take place between 2017 and2022.
Thejoint programme aims to strengthen state management of mountainous regions andareas with ethnic minority communities in terms of culture, sports, tourism andfamily planning.
Accordingly,the two sides will cooperate to bolster dissemination and education of lawsamong ethnic minority people. At the same time, they will work together to preserveand promote the ethnic minority groups’ good traditional values and culturalidentities to boost tourism.
Theprogramme will be carried out in 52 cities and provinces across the countrieswith large population of ethnic minority people and mountain areas.
Speakingat the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism TrinhThi Thuy said the ministry has paid greater attention to preserving culturalvalues of ethnic minority communities, improving their cultural life andenhance their physical development and health.
Theministry is also working to help such communities turn their cultural heritageinto assets and tourism products towards sustainable development, she added.-VNA
