The competition is to promote tourist destinations and raise funds tobuild libraries for two primary schools in the province.
It is part of provincial events to celebrate the 40th anniversaryof Southern Liberation and National Reunification (April 30, 1975).
Some 10 teams with five people each will compete on a course ofchallenging activities, including paddling dugout canoes up the Rao NanRiver, climbing through the Hang Tien Cave and Hang Chuot Cave as wellas trekking across a wild jungle located between Cao Quang and Tan Hoacommune.
An 80 million VND (3,700 USD) grant,part of the event budget, will be provided to rebuild libraries for twoprimary schools swept away during floods in 2010 in Tan Hoa commune.
The province plans to make it an annual non-profitevent, drawing participants from around the world to promote localtourism and financially support schools in mountainous areas.
Located in Tan Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district of Quang Binh province,the Tu Lan cave system includes over 10 caves spreading through valleyscovered with primary forests and rivers.
Magnificent stalagmites and stalactites inside the cave, together withsmall waterfalls and underground rivers, make Tu Lan a unique spot forboth sightseeing and adventure.
Quang Binhprovince is also well-known for the world’s largest cave, Son Doong,which was included on the New York Times’ list of 52 Places to Go in2014.-VNA
