Additional 921,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses arrive in Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) – An additional 921,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19vaccine, part of the purchase of 30 million doses from the company in 2021,arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on July 15 morning.

This isthe fourth – and also the biggest shipment – from the deal AstraZeneca signedwith the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) in December last year,which has agreed to sell their entire supply of this year to the Vietnamesehealth ministry on a not-for-profit basis.

To date, 1.9 million doses in the contracted amount have arrived in Vietnam.

Nearly6.4 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines – from VNVC, COVAX or aid donated by other countries – make up 71 percent of the available stockpile in Vietnam.

AstraZenecawas the first vaccine to have obtained authorisation for emergency use in Vietnam.

On July14, additional 25,377 people received COVID-19 vaccine shots. Nearly 4.15million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide so far,with 286,772 people receiving the full two doses.

Alongwith vaccination, the Health Ministry advised people to continue to strictlyimplement the “5K message” as well as other pandemic prevention and controlmeasures./.

Hanoi tightens control, prevention of monkeypox
