6.3 billion VND in assistance for impoverished ethnic children, families

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, head of the Central Steering Committee for 2016-2020 National Target Programmes, recently approved the use of 6.3 billion VND (272,000 USD) to support disadvantaged ethnic children and households.

Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, head of theCentral Steering Committee for 2016-2020 National Target Programmes, recentlyapproved the use of 6.3 billion VND (272,000 USD) to support disadvantagedethnic children and households.

The amount was mobilised through the national humanitarian portal 1400 in 2018.

Some 5 billion VND (216,000 USD) will be spent on buying clothes for ethnic childrenresiding in specially difficult communes ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet)2019. The remainder will be used to provide the poor ethnic families withaudio-visual devices.

Deputy PM Hue ordered the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and theMinistry of Information and Communication (MIC) to join hands with the StandingBoard of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to carry out theprogramme.

Particularly, the MIC is responsible to popularise the programme among localpeople, and call for joint efforts to support the needy.-VNA
