436 students get Lawrence S. Ting scholarships

The Lawrence S. Ting Community Support Fund handed over scholarships worth 3.68 billion VND to 436 students at high schools and universities nationwide.
The Lawrence S. Ting Community SupportFund on September 25 handed over scholarships worth 3.68 billion VND(over 206,000 USD) to 436 students at high schools and universitiesnationwide.

The scholarships are part of an aid package of 8.74 billion VND whichwas presented on the same day by the fund and the Phu My Hung JointVenture Company.

Apart from the scholarships, the fund granted over 5 billion VND to aseries of charitable organisations in Vietnam for their operations in2010.

On this occasion, the Cathay United Bank, through the fund, providedscholarships worth 600 million VND to pupils who have made efforts toovercome difficult conditions, in Ho Chi Minh City and the centralprovince of Quang Nam.

The Lawrence S.Ting has now handed out over 27,000 scholarships tooutstanding students, especially those facing difficulties and povertyin remote areas nationwide./.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
