Trading at the Chong Jom border point inThailand’s Surin province still takes place as usual despite aslight decrease of about 20-30 percent as a result of the borderconflict and depressing global economy.
Oil is, sofar, the most famous product at the border and possesses 60 percent ofthe market share. Consumer products and building materials also gained afair market share of 20 percent, the Khaosod newspaper said.
Border trade at this point grows 15-20 percent annually and is worthapproximately 1.5 billion THB per year. It is expected that it willgenerate up to 2 billion THB next year.
In SriSaket province, trading at the Sa-Ngam border point is still busy, andshows no signs of any changes despite the coming decision from the ICJon November 11.
According to the newspaper, Thaisecurity authorities could be able to manage the situation, unlessanybody sneaks into the conflict area.-VNA
