Authorities of the southernmost province, Ca Mau, have affirmed their support of a project to construct a wind-power plant in Ngoc Hien district.

According to Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment Mai Huu Chinh, the project will be invested by Cong Ly Construction, Trading, Tourism Co Ltd, which has recent experience with building wind-power plants in the southern central province of Bac Lieu.

Covering more than 7,000 hectares and worth over 70 trillion VND (over 3.2 billion USD), the project will include 150 cylindrical turbines with a combined capacity of 300 megawatts and transformer stations among other facilities.

Local authorities are working with the investor to prepare detailed cost estimates for land clearance and perform necessary procedures to submit the project to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Planning and Investment for approval.

As a large-scale project in the national clean energy development programme, the project is expected to be suitable with the country’s industrialisation and modernisation objectives and efforts to adapt to climate change and rising sea levels.-VNA
