Hanoi (VNA) – More than 24,000 students from 870 elementary and secondaryschools of 41 cities and provinces nationwide on March 17 sit the 2019International Kangaroo Math Contest (IKMC).
This is a math competition that has attracted the largest number of contestantsin the world, with about 6 million from about 70 countries and territories eachyear.
First held in France in 1991, thecontest aims to encourage students in mastering basic Mathematical theories andenhance their problem-solving and logical thinking skills through practicalMathematical case studies.
Additionally, the competition is set to promote the excitement, passion andpositive learning attitude of students.
It was held for the first time inVietnam in 2016 by the Centre for Research and Applied Science, Education(CERA), the University of Education under the Vietnam National University andInnovative Education Group (IEG). -VNA
