2016 has been chosen as the Year of Russian Culture in the ASEAN andASEAN Culture in Russia, according to the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta,Indonesia.
During the recent 13 th meeting of theASEAN – Russia Joint Cooperation Committee, the ASEAN and Russiareviewed the implementation of the Comprehensive Action Programme toPromote Cooperation for 2005-2015 and looked at the finalisation of anew ASEAN – Russia document which would enhance cooperation for mutualbenefit.
Both sides discussed developments inpolitical-security, economy, socio-culture, science-technology andconnectivity and agreed there is potential for greater collaboration.
The meeting noted Russia’s proposal to hold anASEAN-Russia Business Summit on the margins of the 27 th ASEAN Summitin Kuala Lumpur this November.
Reviewing theASEAN-Russian Federation Dialogue Partnership Financial Fund (ARDPFF),the two sides agreed to work together to streamline and simplifyappraisals, approvals, financing and reporting on joint projects fundedby the ARDPFF.
They also adopted several jointprojects and debated activities of the ASEAN Centre located in theMoscow State Institute of International Relations.
Both noted the strong progress of their partnership in preparation forthe 20 th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia dialogue relations in 2016.-VNA
