Lang Son (VNA) - Impoverished residents in Hoa Binh and Tri Le communes, the northern province of Lang Son will have a warmer Tet holiday thanks to gifts from the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region.
In addition to 200 gift packages for the locals, each worth 500,000 VND (22.24 USD), the Steering Committee on January 5 presented 5 million VND (222.4 USD) to each commune, helping them organise a warmer Tet festival for local people.
Hoa Binh and Tri Le in Van Quan district are especially difficult communes in the province. Percentage of poor households in Hoa Binh is 64 percent while the figure in Tri Le is 58 percent.
Most of the population are Tay and Nung ethnic groups.-VNA
