137 youths nominated for Vietnam Outstanding Young Faces Award 2018

Up to 137 youths, including 38 young women and nine individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, have been nominated for the Vietnam Outstanding Young Faces Award 2018, with the oldest being 35 years old and the youngest reaching just seven years old, according to the organisers.

Hanoi (VNA) – Up to 137 youths, including 38 young women and nineindividuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, have been nominated for theVietnam Outstanding Young Faces Award 2018, with the oldest being 35 years oldand the youngest reaching just seven years old, according to the organisers.

The organisers – the Ho Chi Minh CommunistYouth Union Central Committee and the Vietnam Fund for Young Talents – announcedon January 25 that the nominees include Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Nie,who made it to the top five in the global Miss Universe 2018, and renownedmidfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, who secured the most valuable player (MVP) awardat the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup 2018.

All of them showed outstanding achievementsin national construction and defence, specifically in the fields of science andcreativity, production, business and startups, administrative management,security and safety, sports, culture and art, and social activities.

The jury made secret votes to choose thetop 20 nominees on January 17.

The names of the top 20 youths werepublicised on a number of online newspapers – including Tien Phong, Thanh Nien,Ho Chi Minh City Youth, Vietnamnet, Dan Tri, and Hoa Hoc Tro – and the websiteof the Vietnam Television Channel 6 (VTV6) for public voting on January 25.

The voting results will serve as areference for the organisers to choose the top 10 in March.

A number of online exchanges will be heldwith the nominees on the online newspaper sites. The awards ceremony isscheduled for March 19.

The annual Vietnam Outstanding Young FacesAward is presented to 10 youngsters under 35 with excellent performances intheir areas of specialty over the years, and especially in the year for which theyhave been nominated.

In its 22 years, the award has honoured 220faces. Another 220 faces have also received the title of “Potential Youth Face”.–VNA
