Photo exhibitions celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and the 138th anniversary of International Workers' Day (May 1) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25.

HCM City (VNA) – Photo exhibitions celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30) and the 138th anniversary of International Workers' Day (May 1) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25.

The best 154 works selected from a national art photo contest on Vietnamese seas and islands, including 22 winning photos are introduced at the event to popularise the beauty of Vietnam, its nature and people to the public.

Other exhibitions are also being held at three locations, including on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street with 80 photos featuring the Great 1975 Spring Victory and the city’s subsequent transformation into a national economic, cultural, education-training, sci-tech hub.

On Nguyen Du – Dong Khoi street, visitors can view 70 photos depicting the movement of Saigon - Gia Dinh – Cho Lon workers during the resistance war against the US.

Opposite to Chi Lang Park, there is an exhibition displaying 50 photos on the construction and development of the city, highlighting its enduring traditions of compassion and solidarity.

The events will be open to the public till May 2./.
