Air Force conducts formation flying exercises in Dien Bien

The Vietnam People’s Air Force on April 24 conducted its first formation flying exercise to prepare for celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in Dien Bien province.

During the first formation flying session at Dien Bien Airport, the Vietnam People’s Air Force Divisions conducted three flights, each lasting about 45 minutes.

Despite having been trained in formation flying, the weather conditions in Dien Bien were not entirely favorable, affecting visibility and coordination in formation flying and other tasks during the flights.

Still, the session was carried out safely.

After each flight, the technical force of the Air Defense - Air Force Service conduct thorough technical checks on all aircraft to ensure smooth operations. Aircraft are checked comprehensively, from the cockpit to the landing gear, engines, and lifting equipment to ensure there are no malfunctions. The fuel is also replenished.

To prepare for the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, all 10 helicopters participating in the formation flying have been repainted in military green. This is the first time the Air Defense - Air Force Service has used such a large number of helicopters for a demonstration flight. The helicopters will be adorned with national flags and Party flags as they fly during the commemoration ceremony on May 7./.
